Camil Iamandescu > 1908 Funicular in Busteni, Romania, used to fetch wooden logs from 12 miles away to the ancient Schiell Brothers' Paper Mill, seen in the background. It was in use up to 1966. The trek, or footpath leading from Busteni in the Bucegi Plateau, following the funicular's way is still known as Schiell path... Picture from October 2005. Sadly, and, practically without a viable reason, the factory itself was unexpectedly demolished in spring 2008. Busteni, now a touristical resort, grew - since 1881 till in the late 1980's - around that Paper Mill. Everybody worked in the factory.
